If a guy recently told you that he values you, this post will show you likely reasons why and what would make them more likely to be the main reason.

So, what does it mean when a guy says he values you? Likely reasons why a guy will say that he values you are that he is attracted to you, he considers you a friend, he says it naturally or that he was trying to show that he was grateful for something.

There are a number of possible reasons why a guy will say that he values you but there are some things you can consider to help figure out the main cause.

What does it mean when a guy says he values you?

Below are some possible reasons why a guy will say that he values you and what would make them more likely.

He is attracted to you

The cause could be that he is attracted to you. This would be more likely if he only said it to you, he interacts with you differently than he does with other people and if he seems to show the most amount of interest in you.

If he did say it due to being attracted to you, it would be likely that he would show signs of being attracted to you such as:

  • Keeping his focus on you when multiple people are talking
  • Pointing his feet at you (people often point their feet at people that they are attracted to)
  • Adjusting his appearance when he sees you
  • Asking you the most questions when in a group with you
  • Touching you a lot
  • Looking in your direction a lot and smiling or quickly looking away when you notice
  • Holding prolonged eye contact with you
  • Talking to you with a deeper voice than he does with other people
  • Standing closer to you than he does with other people
  • Watching you and getting anxious when you are around other men
  • Getting defensive when other men are with you both

He considers you a friend

It could also be the case that he said it because he considers you as a friend. This would be more likely if he only said it to you in a friendly way, he has been friends with you for a while and if he seems to interact with you in a similar way as he does with his other friends.

He says it naturally

It might also be the case that he has a habit of saying things such as that he values you to people. This would be a lot more likely if you have noticed him saying similar things to other people.

He was being grateful for something

It could also be the case that he was trying to show that he was grateful for something. This would be more likely if he said it after you did something for him or when you were nice to him in some way.

Consider how he reacts when he sees you

To help figure out how he feels about you, it would help to consider how he reacts when he sees you. If he does not change his body language much, when he sees you, it would be more likely that he considers you as a friend or that he says it naturally. Whereas, if he does things such as sit upright, move closer to you, and adjust his appearance, it would be more likely that he is attracted to you.

Consider when he said it

It would also help to consider the timing and location that he said that he values you. If he did it when you were alone together, it would be more likely that he said it due to attraction. Whereas, if he said it when you were around other people, it would be more likely that he says it naturally.

Consider how he interacts with other people

It would also help to compare how he interacts with other people with how he interacts with you. If he interacts with other people similarly to how he interacts with you, it would be more likely that he considers you a friend. Whereas, if he interacts with you differently and he shows the most interest in you, it would be more likely that he is attracted to you.

Consider multiple signs

When considering what his body language might be showing, it would help to consider multiple signs at the same time. The reason for this is that a single body language sign can be unreliable on its own but multiple signs that all suggest the same thing can be a lot more reliable.

If you want to learn more about body language, a book I would recommend would be The Definitive Book of Body Language (on Amazon). It shows you how to interpret body language and understand people's true intentions.
