If a girl recently mocked you then you might be wondering why and what it might mean about the way that she feels about you.

This post will help you understand why she might have mocked you and why other girls might do it in the future.

So, what does it mean when a girl mocks you? If a girl mocks you with a positive tone while showing positive body language then it would be a sign that she likes you. If she does it with a negative tone and negative body language it would be a sign she is annoyed with you or she doesn’t like you. She might also do it with her friends naturally.

Since there are a number of reasons why a girl might mock you it is important to consider the body language that she shows around you and the context of how she did it.

Why a girl will mock you

Each of the different reasons why a girl will mock you will likely come with a number of clues in the way that she does it and in the body language that she shows.

In the following sections, I’ll show you a number of reasons why a girl will mock you, the signs to look for and the things to consider.

She is attracted to you

The reason that she was mocking you could actually be that she was showing that she is attracted to you.

This would be more likely if she did it with a positive tone, while showing you positive body language and if she is a similar age as you.

It can be a sign that she is attracted to you because it would suggest that she wants to have your attention on her, she wants to get a reaction out of you and she wants to make your conversations more playful.

If she did mock you due to being attracted to you then it would be likely that she would show signs of attraction in her body language when she is around you.

These signs could include:

  • Brushing her hair to the side when she is around you
  • Stroking her hair while talking to you
  • Touching you a lot
  • Standing closer to you than she does with her other friends
  • Holding prolonged eye contact with you
  • Having dilated pupils when looking at you
  • Pointing her feet at you
  • Laughing and looking to see if you are also laughing
  • Laughing a lot at the things you say
  • Asking your friends about you
  • Giving you more attention than she does to other people
  • Glancing at you a lot and quickly looking away when you notice

She does it naturally

It could be the case that she tends to mock her friends a lot naturally and that mocking you was a sign that she considers you a friend.

If that was the case then it would be likely that she would mock her friends in a similar way that she did it to you and that she would show similar body language around you as she does with her other friends. It would also be more likely that she would have done it with a more friendly tone.

She’s doing it as a power-play

It could be the case that she mocked you because she was doing it as a power-play designed to show that she has status over you.

This would be more likely if she mocked you with a more condescending tone, in front of other people or if she did it when telling you to do something.

If she was doing it as a power-play then it would be likely that she would show other signs of it by doing things such as:

  • Touching you a lot
  • Standing in your personal space
  • Telling you to do things
  • Squinting at you
  • Having tight lips when you’re talking
  • Putting her hands and feet on things that are yours
  • Interrupting you

She’s annoyed with you

People will often mock people when they are annoyed with them and the reason that she mocked you could have been that she was annoyed with you.

This would be more likely if she mocked you after you had argued about something and if she did it with a more negative tone.

If she was annoyed with you then it would be likely that she would have shown signs of being annoyed with you by doing things such as:

  • Crossing her arms when she saw you or when you were talking
  • Squinting at you
  • Tightening her lips when you were talking
  • Tensing her jaw when looking at you
  • Tightening her eyebrows together when looking at you
  • Giving you short replies or replying with a harsher tone

She’s just being mean

It could have been the case that she was simply being mean when she was mocking you.

If that was the case then it would be likely that she would have done it with a harsher tone, in a more disrespectful way and while showing negative body language towards you.

The reason that she was being mean might have been that she doesn’t like you or she might have been doing it to impress the people around her in order to seem more popular.

The body language that she could have been showing could include:

  • Squinting at you
  • Tensing her jaw when looking at you
  • Hiding her lips when looking at you
  • Tightening her eyebrows together when looking at you
  • Clenching her fists or tightening her muscles

Consider the type of relationship you have with her

When trying to understand why she was mocking you it would be helpful to consider the type of relationship that you have with her.

If she has been your friend for a while then it would be more likely that she was either showing attraction to you, annoyed with you or she was joking. It would be helpful to consider the type of body language that she shows around you, if she does it with her other friends and the tone that she did it with.

If it was a girl that you don’t know very well then it would be more likely that she was either showing attraction to you or that she was being mean to you. It would help to consider the tone that she did it with and the body language that she was showing.

Consider the way that she reacts to seeing you

When trying to understand why she mocked you and the way that she feels about you it would be helpful to consider the way that she reacts to seeing you.

If she reacts to seeing you by noticeably changing her body language then it would be more likely that she has good or bad feelings about you.

If she reacts to seeing you by doing things such as:

  • Adjusting her appearance
  • Standing or sitting more upright
  • Brushing her hair to the side
  • Pointing her feet at you
  • Positioning herself to be nearer to you

Then it would be more likely that she mocked you because she was showing attraction to you.

Whereas, if she reacts to seeing you by doing things such as:

  • Crossing her arms
  • Squinting
  • Tensing her jaw
  • Tightening her lips
  • Furrowing her eyebrows

Then it would be more likely that she mocked you due to either being annoyed with you or because she didn’t like you for some reason.

Think about how she interacts with other people

Comparing the way that she interacts with other people with how she interacts with you would likely help you in determining why she mocked you.

If she also does similar things with her friends and she shows the same body language around them as with you then it would be more likely that she was joking when she did it with you.

Whereas, if she doesn’t seem to mock other people and she changes her body language around you it would be more likely that she was either showing attraction, annoyed with you or she didn’t like you. It would help to consider the tone that she did it with and the body language that she was showing.

Look for multiple body language signs

When trying to understand what her body language could have been suggesting it is important to consider multiple signs.

If she was showing only a single body language sign of something then it wouldn’t be reliable since single signs can have multiple different meanings.

Whereas, if she showed a cluster of body language signs of something then it would be more likely that she was showing them for that specific reason.

If you want to learn more about body language, a book I would recommend would be The Definitive Book of Body Language (on Amazon). It shows you how to interpret body language and understand people's true intentions.
