So, how to know if a guy you’ve never talked to before likes you?
Here are some signs that you can expect to see if he likes you:
- He has more dilated pupils when you’re around
- Pointing his feet in your direction
- Pointing his toes up and raising his eyebrows when he sees you
- Changing his posture when he sees you
- Making adjustments to his appearance when he sees you
- Mirroring
- Positioning himself to be near you
- Changing his behavior when he’s around you
- Getting anxious when you’re with other men and sticking around
- Showing signs of nervousness when he is near you
- Getting defensive when other men are around
- He glances in your direction
- Looking to see if you’re laughing as well when he is
- Talking with a deeper voice when you’re around
- He stares at you as you leave and possibly shows some anxiousness when you do
There are a number of considerations to make when trying to figure out whether or not a guy you haven’t talked to before especially when considering his body language.
Below, I will explain the different body language signals to look for when you’re trying to figure out whether or not a guy likes you and the considerations to make.
He has more dilated pupils when you’re around
When a person is around another person that they are attracted to it will actually cause that person’s eyes to become more dilated than usual.
If you notice that the guy tends to have more dilated pupils than is normal when around you it would be a sign that he is attracted to you.
Pointing his feet in your direction
People don’t often think to look at what the feet are saying when they are trying to make sense of how a person is feeling but the feet can actually tell you a lot about a person.
The reason for that is that people learn ways to control the emotions that they are showing on their faces but they rarely think about what their feet might be suggesting.
People will often point their feet in the direction that they are most interested in.
If you notice that the guy tends to point his feet at you then it would be a sign that he is attracted to you especially if he also taps them and raises his toes when pointing them at you.
Pointing his toes up and raising his eyebrows when he sees you
Body language signals that go against gravity such as raising the toes and eyebrows are often positive body language signals.
If you notice that he shows body language signals that go against gravity when he notices you then it would be a sign that he is glad to see you.
Changing his posture when he sees you
If he is attracted to you then it would be likely that he would want to look his best when you are around him.
This means that when he first notices you it would be likely that he would do things that would make him look better.
Sitting or standing more upright instead of slouching would be one of the ways that he might improve his appearance.
If you notice that he tends to sit or stand more upright when he notices you then it would be a sign that he is attracted to you.
Making adjustments to his appearance when he sees you
Another way that he might improve how he looks when he first notices you is by adjusting his hair or clothing when he notices you.
If you notice that he instinctively changes something about his appearance when he first notices you then it would be a positive sign that he is attracted to you.
Mirroring
Sometimes, when a guy is attracted to you, he will begin to mirror your behavior subconsciously.
This is because it will help him to be accepted by you as someone from your own group.
There are a number of ways that he might mirror you but some examples could include:
- Mirroring your facial gestures
- Mirroring your hand gestures
- Talking at a similar pitch as you
- Touching you back when you touch him
- Sitting or standing with the same posture as you
Be aware that he might also mirror you because you hang out with the same people that he does so if you don’t see other signs of attraction and you both hang out with the same people it would likely be because he’s mirroring the group.
Positioning himself to be near you
If he is attracted to you then it might be the case that he would position himself to be near you when you are in a group or in the same room.
If you notice that he tends to move around the room in the same way that you do then it would be a sign that he is attracted to you.
Changing his behavior when he’s around you
If he is attracted to you then it would be likely that he would change the way that he behaves when you’re around.
If you notice that he behaves in a different way when he doesn’t realize you’re around then it would be a sign that he is attracted to you.
However, it could also be a sign that he doesn’t want to see you in which case he would likely show negative body language signals as well.
Getting anxious when you’re with other men and sticking around
If he likes you then it would be likely that he would get anxious when you’re with other men because he would be nervous that you’re going to like them and not him.
As a result, if you notice that he tends to get anxious when you’re with other men and that he watches you interact with them and sticks around while you’re with other men it would be a sign that he is attracted to you.
Showing signs of nervousness when he is near you
If he is attracted to you then he might show signs of nervousness around you.
This is because he might want to talk to you but he might be too nervous to do so. It could also be that he wants to look good in front of you and avoid looking bad which is causing him to get slightly nervous.
If he does get nervous around you then it would be likely that he would do things such as:
- Rub the face, arms, legs or neck
- Touch the neck
- Speak at a higher pitch
- Scratch the back of the neck
- Struggle to hold eye contact
- Fidget
Getting defensive when other men are around
If he is attracted to you then it would be likely that he would want to avoid letting other men make him look bad.
This could cause him to behave in a defensive/aggressive way when you’re present and other men are around.
If you notice that he does get defensive when other men are around then it could be a sign that he is attracted to you.
He glances in your direction
If the guy likes you then it would be likely that he would check you out often.
This means that if you notice that he tends to glance in your direction then it would be a sign that he is attracted to you.
This would be especially likely if he tends to quickly look away or smile when you notice.
Looking to see if you’re laughing as well when he is
If he likes you then it could be the case that he would want to appear to like the same things that you do.
This means that he might look to see if you are also laughing when he is in order to see if you also found it funny.
Talking with a deeper voice when you’re around
It has been shown that when a guy is talking to a woman that he finds attractive he will tend to speak with a deeper voice and occasionally go higher pitched.
The reason for that is likely to be that talking with
This means that if you notice that he tends to speak more deeply around you and he sometimes goes higher pitched then it would be a sign that he’s attracted to you.
He stares at you as you leave and possibly shows some anxiousness when you do
If he likes you then it would be likely that he wouldn’t want you to leave.
This means that if he tends to watch you as you leave and possibly show some signs of anxiousness then it would be a sign that he is attracted to you.
However, it could also be a sign that he wanted you to leave if he was showing negative body language signals while you were around. But, if you haven’t spoken to him before it would be unlikely.
Consider how he reacts when he sees you
The way that he tends to react when he first notices you will often give you a lot of clues about his feelings towards you.
If he tends to sit or stand more upright, position himself to be nearer to you, uncross his arms and legs, point his feet at you, glance at you, stop showing negative signals such as squinting or tensing the jaw when he first sees you then it would be a sign that he is attracted to you.
Consider what his normal behavior looks like
When trying to figure out whether or not a guy that you haven’t talked to before likes you it would be helpful to be able to compare what his behavior is like around you compared to what it’s normally like.
If he tends to act the same way and show the same body language when he is around you as he does when he isn’t it would be less likely that he is attracted to you.
Whereas, if he tends to change his behavior and body language while you are around it would be more likely that he is attracted to you assuming that he shows signs of attraction in his body language.
Look for multiple body language signals
When observing what his body language might be suggesting it would be helpful to look at multiple body language signal.
If he only shows one body language signal of attraction then it wouldn’t be enough to conclude that he likes you because single body language signals can have many different meanings.
Whereas, if he shows multiple different signs of attraction in his behavior and body language when he is around you then it would be much more likely that he does like you.
If you want to learn more about body language, a book I would recommend would be The Definitive Book of Body Language (on Amazon). It shows you how to interpret body language and understand people's true intentions.
