If a guy recently said that he adores you then you might be wondering why and what it might mean about the way that he feels about you.
This post will show you a number of reasons why he might have said that he adores you, the signs to look for and the things to consider.
So, what does it mean when a guy says that he adores you? It could mean he likes and if attracted to you especially if he only says it to you and he shows other signs of attraction around you. It could also mean that he considers you a friend, he wanted to make you feel better or he might say it naturally.
There are actually a number of reasons why a guy might say that he adores you and there are a number of things that you can consider when trying to understand why he might have said it.
Why a guy will say that he adores you
Each of the different reasons why a guy will say that he adores you will likely come with a number of clues in the way that he says it and the body language that he shows.
Below, I will mention a number of reasons why a guy will say that he adores you, the signs to look for and the things to consider.
He is attracted to you
The reason that he said that he adores you could be that he is attracted to you.
This would be more likely if he only said it to you and not to other people and if he acts differently around you compared to when he is with his other friends.
If he is attracted to you then it would be likely that he would show signs of being attracted to you, in his body language, when he is around you.
These signs could include:
- Mirroring your body language
- Holding prolonged eye contact with you
- Asking you the most questions when you’re in a group together
- Standing closer to you than he normally stands to other people
- Positioning himself to be near you
- Asking your friends about you
- Talking to you with a deeper voice than he does with other people
- Becoming anxious when you’re talking to other men
- Sticking around while you are with other men
- Basing his schedule around your schedule
- Getting defensive when you are both with other men
- Watching you when you are with other men
- Staring at you then quickly looking away or smiling when you notice
- His pupils dilate when he is with you
- Sitting more upright when he notices you
- Uncrossing his arms when he notices you
- Adjusting his hair or clothing when he notices you
- Pointing his feet at you (people will often point their feet at people that they are attracted to)
- Hugging you the more and for longer than he does with his other friends
There are more signs of attraction that a guy might show around you and I have written about more of them in this blog post.
He considers you a friend
The reason that he said it might be that he considers you a friend.
This would be more likely if you have been friends with him for a while, he also says similar things to his other friends and if he shows similar body language around them as he does with you.
He was grateful for something that you did
Sometimes, people will say things such as “adore” when they are trying to show that they are really grateful for something that was done for them. This could be the reason that he said that he adores you.
This would be more likely if he said it right after you did something for him or you agreed to help him with something, he wasn’t showing many signs of attraction and he only said it once.
He was trying to make you feel better
The reason that he said it might have been that he was trying to make you feel better.
This would be more likely if he said he adores you when you were talking to him about something that upset you, there weren’t other people around and if you were showing signs of being sad yourself.
He said it naturally
It could be the case that he has a habit of saying adore a lot.
This would be more likely if he also seems to say adore to other people as well, if he shows similar body language around them as he does with you and if he said it to you when other people were around you both.
If he does seem to say it naturally then it could still be the case that he is attracted to you. If he is then it would be likely that he would show some signs of being attracted to you that he doesn’t around other people.
Consider the way that he reacts upon seeing you
When trying to understand why he said that he adores you it would help to consider the way that he reacts to seeing you.
If you notice that he changes his behavior and body language, when he sees you, then it would make it more likely that he has particularly strong feelings for you.
So, if he reacts to seeing you by doing things such as:
- Adjusting his appearance
- Adjusting his posture
- Facing towards you (especially with his feet)
- Moving closer to you
- Having more dilated pupils
Then it would make it more likely that he is attracted to you and that he said that he adores you because of it.
Consider when and where he said that he adores you
The timing of when he said that he adores you could also be a useful thing to consider.
If he said that he adores you when other people were with you both then it would make it more likely that he said it to you as a friend or that he said it naturally. However, he still might have said it because of attraction. It would help to consider the body language he was showing around you and how it compares to what he shows with other people.
Whereas, if he said that he adores you when he was alone with you then it would make it more likely that he was saying it because he is attracted to you or that he was trying to make you feel better.
Think about how he interacts with other people
It would also help to consider the way that he interacts with other people and how it compares to the way that he interacts with you.
If he shows the same body language with other people as with you and he also seems to say adore a lot with them then it would make it more likely that he considers you a friend.
Whereas, if he only says that he adores you to you and he shows different body language around you then it would make it more likely that he is attracted to you.
Consider a number of body language clues
When considering what his body language could have been showing it would help to consider a number of signs at the same time.
The reason for this is that a single body language sign can have many possible meanings. This can result in single body language signs being less reliable on their own.
Whereas, if he shows multiple body language signs that all suggest the same thing then it would make it more likely that he is showing them for that particular reason.
If you want to learn more about body language, a book I would recommend would be The Definitive Book of Body Language (on Amazon). It shows you how to interpret body language and understand people's true intentions.
