If a guy doesn’t text you first then you might be wondering why and what it might mean about the way that he feels about you.

He isn’t sure whether or not you like him

This would be more likely if you have not shown any interest in him in the past and if you only tend to text him general things such as about work or school.

If this is the case then it could still be the case that he is interested in you. If he is then it would be likely that he would show signs of being attracted to you when he is around you in person.

These signs could include:

• Holding prolonged eye contact with you
• Asking you the most questions
• Keeping his focus on you when multiple people are talking
• Glancing at you a lot
• Adjusting his appearance when he sees you
• Touching you a lot
• Standing closer to you than he does with other people
• Pointing his feet at you (people often point their feet at people that they are attracted to)
• Watching you and getting anxious when you are around other men
• Getting defensive when other men are with you both
• Having dilated pupils when looking at you (people’s pupils will often become more dilated when looking at someone that they are attracted to)

It could be the case that he doesn’t text you first because he is not interested.

This would be more likely if he tends to take a long time to respond to your texts, he doesn’t agree to hang out, he sends you short answers and if he does not show signs of attraction when he is around you in person.

He might also show other signs of not being interested in you when he is around you in person by doing things such as:

• Pointing his feet away from you
• Crossing his arms when she sees you
• Avoiding eye contact
• Giving short answers
• Distancing himself from you
• Only smiling at the mouth

He does it naturally

It might also be the case that he doesn’t tend to initiate text conversations with people naturally.

If this is the case then it would be more likely that he would also not seem to text other people first and it would be more likely if he tends to show the same body language around other people as he does with you.

If he does do it naturally then it could be the case that he is actually attracted to you. If he is then it would be likely that he would show some signs of attraction when he is around you in person.

He is busy

The reason that he doesn’t text first might be because he is often busy and he doesn’t have time to text you.

If he reacts by doing things such as:

• Adjusting his posture
• Moving closer to you
• Facing toward you (especially with his feet)
• Holding eye contact

Then it would make it more likely that he is attracted to you.

Whereas, if he reacts to seeing you by doing things such as:

• Squinting
• Avoiding eye contact
• Tensing his lips
• Facing away from you (especially with the feet)
• Distancing himself

Then it would make it more likely that he is either not interested or annoyed.

Consider how he interacts with other people

It would also help to consider the way that he interacts with other people and how it compares to his interactions with you.

If he shows the same body language around you as he does around other people then it would make it more likely that he doesn’t text people much naturally.

Whereas, if his body language is different around you then it would make it more likely that he has good or bad feelings about you depending on the way that he changes his body language.

Consider what he does text you

It would be helpful to consider the type of things that he does text you when trying to understand why he never texts you first.

If he tends to text you things related to hanging out with you, things that are more sexual in nature and if he tends to text you in a way that furthers the conversation then it would be more likely that he is attracted to you.

Whereas, if he tends to take a long time to reply, gives you short responses and he doesn’t agree to hang out with you then it would be more likely that he is not interested in you.

Whereas, if he is showing multiple body language signs that all point toward the same meaning then it would make it more likely that he is showing them for that specific reason.
