She is attracted to you

The reason that she stared and smiled at you could be that she is attracted to you.

This would be especially likely if she only does it to you and if she has done it multiple times with you.

If she is attracted to you then it would be likely that she would show other signs of being attracted to you, in her body language, when she sees you.

These signs can include:

• Brushing her hair to the side when she sees you
• Positioning herself to be nearer to you
• Glancing at you and smiling when you notice
• Pointing her feet at you (people point their feet at people that they are attracted to)
• Adjusting her appearance when she sees you
• Laughing and looking to see if you are also laughing

She considers you a friend

The reason that she stares and smiles at you could be that she considers you a friend.

This would be more likely if you have spoken to her in the past and if she also acts in a similar way and shows similar body language around her other friends.

If you do know her then it could still be the case that she does it because she is attracted to you. If she is then it would be likely that she would show signs of being attracted to you that she doesn’t with her other friends.

She thought that you were smiling at her

The reason that she smiled at you could be that she thought you were smiling at her.

This would be more likely if you smiled at her first and if she caught eye contact with you after you were already looking at her. It would also be less likely that she would show many signs of attraction around you and it would be less likely that she would stare and smile at you on more than one occasion.

She was being polite

It could also be the case that she was just being polite.

Often, people will smile when they catch eye contact with another person and this could be why she smiled at you. This would be less likely if she was staring and smiling at you before you made eye contact with her.

She was thinking

It could be the case that she was staring and thinking about something that made her happy.

If this was the case then it would be less likely that she would have continued looking at you after you had moved, she wouldn’t have stared and smiled at you on more than one occasion and she wouldn’t have reacted when you noticed her.

She was looking at someone else

It might also be the case that she was staring and smiling at someone else.

If this was the case then it would be less likely that she would do it to you on more than one occasion and it would be unlikely that she would have reacted to you when you noticed since she wasn’t actually looking at you.

Consider how she reacts to seeing you

When trying to figure out why she stares and smiles at you it would help to consider how she reacts to seeing you.

If she normally reacts to seeing you by staring and smiling at you then it would make it a lot more likely that she does it because she is attracted to you especially if she shows other body language signs of being attracted to you.

Additionally, if she reacts to seeing you by showing other positive body language signs such as:

• Brushing her hair to the side
• Adjusting her appearance
• Positioning herself to be closer to you
• Raising her eyebrows momentarily

Then it would also make it more likely that she is attracted to you.

It would also help to consider if she acts in a similar way around other people as well.

If she also has a habit of staring and smiling at other people and she shows the same body language around them as with you then it would be more likely that she was being polite.

Whereas, if she only does it with you and she shows different body language around you then it would be more likely that she is showing attraction.

Consider when and where she stared and smiled at you

It would also help to consider the timing and location that she did it in.

If she stared and smiled at you multiple times at a party then it would be more likely that she wanted you to come and talk to her.

If she stared and smiled at you when you were walking past her then it would make it more likely that she was being polite. However, she could still have been showing attraction especially if she was smiling at you before you made eye contact with her and she was showing other signs of attraction.

Consider multiple aspects of her body language

When considering what her body language could be suggesting it would help to consider multiple aspects of it at the same time.

She could have been showing a single body language sign for multiple different reasons. This makes single body language signs less reliable on their own.

Whereas, if she was showing multiple body language signs that all suggested the same thing then it would make it more likely that she was showing them for that reason.
